First Dates

Okay, so you’ve lined up a first date! Congrats! ...Now what?

Are you a little nervous? It's perfectly normal to feel anxious about a first date, just take a few deep breaths, and realize that the other person is probably as nervous as you are. This page will help you prepare for the big first date so you can have fun and make a good impression.

Step One: Decide where to go and what to do on your first date

Think about the person you are taking on the date and try to think of something this person would enjoy.  If they are athletic you might want to find something fun, athletic, and outdoorsy - maybe go on a hike or play a sport. If your date is the artsy type you could visit a museum, or do something creative like finger painting. 

You also want to play to your own strengths and find something that will also be fun for you. If you can’t swim, for example, water polo might not be a great first date! Its also important to do something that will allow you to talk and get to know each other.  Movies are fun but not a great first date idea, they don’t allow for good conversation.

First dates are (in many cases) get to know you dates. Ask good questions to find out more about your date, be open and personable -- but don’t pry too much or ask too many questions. Again it is important to find an activity that will allow you to talk and joke around - something casual and stress free!
